Saathi – The Companion

SYNOPSIS

Baldev narayan has a large family comprising of his wife, one and only daughter Anjali and the family of his brother Jaiodev Narayan. Baldev narayan has a friend Mahesh Chopra in the USA. Mahesh Chopras sone Vijay is a handsome boy who has not been to India for 15 years but has grown up with Indian values. Mahesh Chopra and Baldev narayan want to turn their friendship into relationship by love-match between their children. They want them to get married, but instead of imposing their will on them they want Anjali and Vijay to understand each other and then decide themselves.

So, Vijay is coming to India to meet Anjali but Anjali has some other plans; taking advantage of the fact that no body has seen Vijay, she brings in her boy friend Akash and introduces him to her family members as Vijay Chopra, and contrives a plan to receive Vijay at the airport with help of her best friend Varsha. Varsha introduces herself to Vijay as Anjali and brings him to a lonely farmhouse. Varsha tells Vijay that her parents have decided them to be all alone so they could understand each other better and fast. Anjali wants her friend Varsha to make him flee from India and say no to this marriage.

Story moves on two tracks. Akash tries to win over Anjalis family members. More often than not, he find himself in awkward situations because he neither knows anyone in Anjalis family nor anything about America and Mahesh Chopras family. Nevertheless, he manages to get out of them unscratched.

On the farmhouse, every trick in Varshas kitty to make Vijay flee from India falls flat; on the contrary, she herself falls victom to his selfless charming personality. Evdery repellent tried on him proved a magnet and she falls in love with him.

Everything seemed sailing smoothly until Vijays father Mahesh Chopra arrives in India. Akash is handed over to the Police. Varsha with her father Parasnath are blamed for all this. Varshas father, once friend of Baldev Narayan, moves to village with his daughter. Anjalis efforts to make her father and Mahesh Chopra see sense go in vain.

A common friend and principal of Anjali and Vijays college Kartar Singh comes as godsend for the lonesome hearts. He stirs Vijay and Akash to stand for their love but act sensibly. Kartar Singh is determined to help them but the conspiracy hatched by Baldev Narayans brother Jaideve to kill Baldev Narayan to grab his property turns the senario into a battlefield. Akash and Vijay come forward to rescue but it was Jaidevs wife who throws herself between the bullet fired by her husband and Baldev Narayan. Jaidev is contrite and lovelorn pairs get full requitalLove for Love.
